Japanese lantern, scroll saw fretwork pattern

  This a very decorative lantern in Japanese style. The sides show four different Japanese scenes. The text below the scenes reads ¨Japan, the land of the rising sun¨. The inner part of the sides can be covered with the material of your preference to produce different luminous effects. The pattern is based in a very old English  design that I have completely redrawn.

  This picture is courtesy of Boris Radovskiy from the USA. He is a member of the Carolina Scrollers club. Wood is Sapele, finished with semi gloss polyurethane, inner sides covered with rice paper, 7W bulb.

  This piece is designed to be made preferably with 1/4 inches wood or with 6 mm. wood. The following table gives the measures of the piece depending on the wood width you use:
