Victorian round box

Victorian round box, scroll saw fretwork pattern with beads

This is a magnificent box in Victorian style. Even though the aspect of the cover may look complicated, the mounting of the box has been made extremely easy, with inner not visible pieces that help to glue everything in position straightforwardly.  I have also designed this box so that it can be adorned with beads, this is a growing trend in scroll saw. You can see two examples of this below. The round inner cuts in the middle of the flowers and some others in the central part of the cover have this purpose. By combining different wood types and colour beads the possibilities and  effects are endless.

The pattern has been designed to use 1/4 and 1/8 inches wood or 8 and 6 mm wood. By scaling the pattern appropriately any other wood widths can also be used. These are the measures of the shelf depending on the wood width you use:

  Height Diameter
1/4 and 3/16 in. wood 6,1 in. 15,7 in.
6 and 4,5 mm. wood 14,6 cm. 37cm.
8 and 6 mm. wood 19,5 cm. 49,3 cm.
